Swan's Song - From Puntarenas, Costa Rica!

It is another beautiful day in Paradise! We travel mostly at night and wake up to a whole new world each day. We have been visiting Mexican places so far and this morning found us at our first stop in Costa Rica. If my friends, Audrey and Jim are following along - I think we cruised by your bit of paradise somewhere around 5 am this morning, so (from our stateroom) I sent my love and attention that way!

Puntarenas is the name of this city and the province as well. It is located on a narrow peninsula, and the word actually means "Sandy Point". It has a very different appearance than the Mexican beaches we have seen with it's darker sand and water. I'm told it is volcanic, so I'm guessing that is the reason. We can see the rain forests and mountain ranges in the distance. Some of the tours available are to waterfalls, parks, wildlife preserves and the Carara Biological Reserve. It is termed "a traditional fishing village, developing for the future". We heard on board that there was an earthquake in this area of Costa Rica, however we haven't been able to get much information on that. Some of the tours were cancelled, so that is the most likely reason.

Yesterday, I presented a lecture on the native peoples of Mexico through time, mostly focusing on the Olmec, the Mayan and the Aztec. It went very well and after the talk I was approached by an amazing Mexican couple. It turns out that he has been researching this topic for 20 years and has managed to go somewhat deeper that I could in the 2 months of attention I've given it! He was very gracious and obviously saw my keen interest on the subject. We spoke for a time and I learned SO much, particularly regarding the eagle and condor legend / prophecy. His take on the 2012 event is very numeralogical and deep, and overall he feels that it is a coming together and marks a "Golden Time".

We head to Panama tonite and I'm speaking during the day, so we will stay on board as we are lifted and lowered and as we cruise through the lakes that I hear have an amazing abundance of wildlife. We will be back in Costa Rica on the other side in a couple days, where I hope to be able to blog again.

This is already day 8 of my amazing adventure and I can definitely verify from personal experience, that time DOES fly, when you're having fun!
